SIMUN Elects New Executive Board

Today marks the first meeting of the newly elected SIMUN 2012-2013 Executive Board. Its members include the two rising seniors on the previous year’s board, Charlie Helding and Lisa Kohlndorfer, as well as the following additions:

The Executive Board will be utilizing this time at the end of the school year to finalize the conference schedule for this coming season and begin preparations for SIMUN XI.

SIMUN Members to Elect New Executive Board

SIMUN members will meet Monday to elect a new Executive Board for the 2012-2013 school year. The election will replace departing seniors while two juniors, Lisa Kohlndorfer and Charles Helding, will remain on the board.

To vote in tomorrow’s election, members should meet after school in the library to hear brief speeches and vote. This will be the only time to vote except for those involved in spring sports. Members involved in sports should see Mrs. Haleas-Hines in the Social Studies office before school or in room 256 during Activity Period.

It’s very important that our leadership reflects the needs of club members, so we encourage all of our members to come and vote!

SIMUN won the Outstanding Large Delegation award at the Northwestern University Model UN conference (NUMUN) this weekend in Evanston, IL. Congratulations to the team for their success! To celebrate our most successful year in SIMUN history, we wanted to ensure that SIMUN had a more active presence on the web. This new site will allow St. Ignatius students, their parents, alumni, and others interested in SIMUN to see our progress throughout the year and to learn more about what our club does. SIMUN Wins Best Club Award at Berkeley

In its first west coast conference and in the midst of its finest season yet, SIMUN beat over 100 other schools to win the Best Club award at Berkeley Model United Nations in California!

SIMUN Goes to NAIMUN

SIMUN had a wonderful trip to the North American Invitational Model United Nations conference hosted by Georgetown University in Washington, DC February 16-19. With nearly 150 schools and over 3,000 students participating, the SIMUN team won several major awards as well as participated in a policy briefing at the Saudi Arabian Embassy, toured the monuments along the National Mall, and visited the Smithsonian museums. We even managed to get a personal tour of Georgetown from alum Peter Prindiville ’10.
